How to Know GodSo many people are trying to find meaning in life through their family, friends, jobs, possessions, addictions, etc… Yet, there never seems to be enough because there is no satisfaction in these earthly things. Too many people think that God is unreachable because of their past or current personal conditions. How can we begin a relationship with the living God and overcome the obstacles of life. The answer is Jesus Christ, who freely gives living water to all who thirst.
How to Begin a Relationship with God
We are living in a world filled with competing theories and religions. Yet in the midst of all this confusion, Jesus Christ makes a bold assertion: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me” (John 14:6).
Our Spiritual condition is totally depraved. As we look into Scripture, our human condition becomes painfully clear;
There is none righteous, no, not one; Romans 3:10
We are all sinners;
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
Where did sin come from?
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.
Romans 5:12
If you still don’t believe it. Look around. Everything in this broken world bears the marks of our sinful nature. Something has gone terribly wrong in our society and in ourselves, something deadly, but there is hope. As Paul said in his letter to the Romans;
The wages of sin death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
How is this possible? Who paid the price?
But God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
How can we get out of this mess?
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
Romans 10:9-11
Will you receive Jesus Christ right now? Here is how you can receive Christ.
- Admit your need. (I am a sinner.)
- Be willing to turn from your sins (repent).
- Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.
- Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive Him as Lord and Savior.)
How to Pray:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name, Amen.
